The 6th Annual O.R.G. Benefit was November 2, 2008.
Jonathan Bird presented An Indonesian Odyssea, a slide presentation about diving in the amazingly diverse Lembeh region of Indonesia. It's famous for "muck" diving--where weird critters are found living in a soft sandy substrate. But as Jonathan discovered, Lembeh is so much more. In addition to all the unusual critters like Blue-ringed octopus, Flamboyant cuttlefish, Paddle-flap scorpionfish and mating mandarinfish, Jonathan found some of the most pristine and colorful reefs he has ever encountered, making Lembeh one of the most exciting tropical destinations he has ever visited.
A new episode from Season 2 of the PBS television series Jonathan Bird's Blue World was premiered about Jonathan's adventures being an aquarist for a day at the New England Aquarium.
The 2008 O.R.G. scholarship was presented, and of course there were plenty of raffles, door prizes, and auctions, including a dive in the New England Aquarium Giant Ocean Tank! Don't miss this great annual event!
Tickets are $10 (adults) and $5 (under 12) at the door. Admission is limited to 375 people. The National Heritage Museum in Lexington is very easy to reach, has plenty of parking, and will also have exhibits open during our event as a bonus!
